Thirdly, if you are still having a problem getting through or are ignored entirely, you may have no choice but to contact a third party – this would be the credit repair agency. First, you can challenge what is reported on your credit report. Write a debt valuation letter to Experian, which consists of several key points. If you have more than one dispute, don’t put it all in one letter. Space your letters over a period of time so they are not inundated with requests.

Make sure you copy any correspondence you have with Experian, including your debt valuation letter. Send the letter certified and return receipt requested. The letter should contain key questions such as the date of the debt, when it was due and the contract detailing the specifications of payments.

Your letter should also alert Experian to the legislation enacted under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, which should protect you in these circumstances. They are violating your rights if they do not comply.

Keep trying even if you do not get an immediate response. Experian is relying on your becoming frustrated and going away. Don’t give up.
